Subscribe to Kia's monthly newsletter to receive the below to your inbox.
1. A NEW BLOG POST
A blog post published on the 1st of every month focusing on something I care about. This ranges from literature and publishing to social mobility, class diversity, feminism, and tackling the ‘triple lock’ of being female, BAME and working class.
2. WHAT I'M CURRENTLY...
- Worried about
- Trying not to get angry about
3. THE QUESTION
Every month, I’ll answer one of the uncomfortably intimate questions posed by this New York Times article. Apparently, these questions may lead to ‘love’ but let’s start with like and see where we go from there.
I’m sad that after the demise of Asian Woman magazine and Asiana, we have no central space in which to celebrate the incredible women of colour slaying in their lanes. Here, I’ll share one woman on my radar and why I'd like you to support her too.
5. IN MY POCKET
I use Pocket voraciously and am constantly adding interesting content to it. Here, I’ll share what’s currently in my Pocket.
And that’s it for now!
Why a newsletter?
I stopped blogging roughly six years ago because social media became my primary way to share random thoughts, but something was lost in that – nuance, yes, but also a level of honesty. Social media feels noisy and big and has a strong undercurrent of keeping-up-with-the-joneses and, with that, a need to put your best foot forward. I still use it, but in the way one might keep tonguing a painful ulcer.
I want to rebuild my community of readers in a space that feels fun, informal and honest. As I said in Fair Share many years ago, my blog was a casual space and I’d like this newsletter to be an extension of that.
